User Interface
The user interface of the terminal set-up and
login boxes has been redesigned to provide a modern ‘look &
feel'.
A new 'palette option' provides customisation of
the user interface (i.e. blue, brown, orange, and green themes can be
chosen, in addition to the existing turquoise color)
Example : the new and old authentication box are
shown below
Firmware 0922
Firmware 1236
The keyboard management had
been also modified to allow usual keystrokes to be available for menu
and option selection.
Microsoft TSE/RDS
Server 2012 / Windows 8
This firmware is certified for the new Windows Server 2012 &
Windows 8 operating systems.
Addition features offered by these O.S. will be available soon. (USB
redirection, MultiTouch support...).
NLA Security Layer
The NLA (Network Level Authentication) option allows an RDP connection
to be secured by using both an SSL tunnel and NTLM (user
authentication). This is already supported in this the firmware.
Terminal Server Gateway
With the Terminal Server Gateway, the RDP client is not directly
connected to the TSE/RDS server, but rather the connection is tunnelled
via HTTPS to a front-end gateway server – which acts as a security
buffer for the application servers.
The new firmware allows gateway support for both RemoteApp use
(published application) and for a predefined RDP session.
Compression
Two new compression algorithms (Win2008, Win2008R2 & Win2012)
are now available. These are automatically negotiated by the server and
provide better bandwidth optimisation.
Citrix Receiver
Configuration
The terminal set-up has been significantly
modified to offer a more intuitive way to configure the different
Citrix capabilities: WEB Interface, PNAgent, VDI-in-a-Box...
Secure Gateway
With Secure Gateway, the Citrix client is not
directly connected to the Citrix server. The ICA connection is
tunnelled via SSL and the gateway is used as a front-end.
The new firmware allows the gateway support for the Citrix Receiver
Desktop.
VDI-in-a-Box
Citrix VDI-in-a-Box makes the benefits of desktop
virtualization available to businesses of all sizes.
The principle functionality is: after authentication, a list of
available virtual desktops is displayed. After selection, an ICA
connection is opened to the chosen virtual machine.
The access of the VDI-in-a-Box infrastructure is very similar to WEB
Interface XenApp/XenDesktop.
Local Administration
Configuration & Firmware
It’s now possible to manage firmware and configuration updates from a
USB memory stick.
The terminal configuration can be copied as a text file onto the USB
mass storage and used to configure others terminals.
The terminal firmware can be updated by copying the firmware file from
the memory stick.
Certificate Management
When required, the terminal may open an SSL
connection using local certificates, (Wireless /PEAP authentication,
RDP/NLA, connection via a gateway, RemoteApp...).
Both the use of root certificates (checking the server identity ) and
personal certificates (checking the client identity) are now supported.
Certificates can be imported by either AxRM or from a memory stick.
Other Functionalities
Quick Set-Up
The quick set-up wizard had been modified to accommodate these new
features.
General Configuration
On configuring a new session, the server name/IP address can now be
entered directly at the “session configuration” level. (Whereas
previously it had to be entered in {setup}/network/server and selected
at the “session configuration” level.)
SSL Security
As a WEB browser, the SSL security level can be selected. The terminal
can trust a remote SSL server (no verification) or check if it's the
true server by using a root certificate (with optional tests of
validity date and server name).
IP Conflict
The terminal is now able to detect a conflict with its own IP address.
In event of conflict, an information box displays the Ethernet address
of the 'other' device.
