AX3000 Thin Client Range
New firmware 1626b

New firmware version 1626b is available for Models 80, 85 and 90. (Replacing 1626a.)

Here are the main innovations.

802.1X Authentication

The 802.1X protocol is an authentication mechanism for terminals on a LAN (wired local network) or a WLAN (wireless local network) requiring a password or certificate for authentication

Note: A dedicated authentication server (radius) is needed.

802.1X for wireless connections was already supported by models 85 and 90 but this new firmware provides the same function for models 80, 85 and 90 on a LAN.

Active Directory Logon

It is now possible to restrict access to the thin client by enabling 'Logon AD': The operator must enter his credentials to access the thin client’s local desktop.

In addition, this configuration allows:
 - The user to change his password if the security policy requires this (ie solves the NLA related issue with server forced password renewal)
 - Using AD identifiers to connect to RDS/TSE or Citrix sessions (Single Sign On)
 - Lock the thin client using the AD password

Citrix StoreFront

StoreFront enhancements include:
 - Ability to select a specific store from the StoreFront server. (Previously only the first Store was available.)
 - Support of 'anonymous' login.

RDS/TSE

RDS/TSE improvements include:
 - The addition of a new RemoteFX codec. (M90 only): the Progressive Codec  brings a significant reduction in bandwidth by displaying certain images in several steps (from low resolution to high quality). This codec will be useful in the situation where a user experiences different performance when comparing LAN and WAN connected terminals, ie where the WAN is the bottleneck.
 - From 2012R2, the RDP server can dynamically evaluate network characteristics (low bandwidth and average RTT). This feature is now supported on the thin client.
 - A session configured for NLA is now able to connect to a server that does not support this protocol (ie Windows 2003).

Remote administration

Remote administration enhancements include:
 - The SSL protocol can be used to secure XML administration.
 - Remote administration can be customized (activation / deactivation of RSH and XML protocols)
 - The message function offers new options.

And also...

- RDS/TSE and Citrix: When changing sessions the terminal caches the previous graphics sessions (RDS and Citrix) so on returning to the original session the screen content is immediately displayed without requiring a refresh from the server.

- Citrix: support of Reducer V3

- DNS Cache

- Error messages: in event of connection error (DNS failure, server offline...), user-friendly messages are now displayed.

- USB: for compatibility USB 1.1 can be “forced” for devices that can’t auto-detect. (Honeywell bar code scanners).
