Set-Up  Procedure:

The Axel Office Server is managed from any network point by a telnet connection or a rsh command.
In addition, one of the serial ports can be switched into administrator mode letting a standard serial terminal (or PC) connect and configure the AXEL Office Server.

Peripheral Control:

The Axel Office Server offers flexible and cost-efficient connections for various serial peripherals (printers, badge readers, modems, etc.) in TCP/IP LAN environments:
  • Printers
The embedded LPD protocol allows printers to be connected with no additional software.
(the printer is 'attached' to an LPR port included in the standard 'Unix Printer Service').
  • Other devices: card readers, scales, etc.
The embedded telnet and tty protocols in conjunction with third party software allow a aemote COM port support . This allows any connected serial device to be accessed via the standard Windows COM port mechanism.

Other Functions:

- The set-up can be password-protected.
- Flash memory, firmware is downloadable over LAN/WAN.
- Remote administration (set-up and network information available over LAN/WAN).
