THE ALPHA-GUI MODE

A new feature is available for the AX3000 TCP/IP Platine Terminal: the Alpha-GUI mode.

More information....

Note: the Alpha-GUI mode is offered by the AX3000 Platine Terminal model 65.

What is Alpha-GUI Mode ?

The alpha-GUI mode is a new feature where the AX3000 processes text information (video attributes, colours, cursor location, etc.) and displays it in graphical mode.

This allows:
- running software generally used on dumb terminals
- colouring pure monochrome software
- revamping colour or monochrome software by associating graphical attributes (shadow, 3D effects, etc.) with display criteria.

Benefit: These operations are locally processed by the AX3000 itself. So to get a 'graphical' application, no modification of source code is needed.

New: GIF files (256-colour bitmap) can be displayed by the Alpha-GUI Terminal. This new feature allows for example to add a logo in a text-based software or to display pictures.

Examples of Use

1 - Revamping

BEFORE

AFTER

As shown above, the AX3000 locally processes the following:
- monochrome attributes (normal, reverse video and underline) are coloured
- semi-graphics characters are coloured
- semi-graphics characters are shadowed
- reverse video characters are shadowed and a 3D effect is applied to the reverse video backgound

2 - Revamping and Displaying GIF Files

As shown above, the software is locally revamped by the AX3000 and pictures (GIF files) of selected items are displayed by using an escape sequence.
